Experiment Badge

It was hard to decide who had the most fun when Beavers carried out a range of experiments in order to gain their Experiment Badge.

Akela and Grey Beaver had a whale of a time with the Rocket Balloon experiment, sending a balloon attached to a piece of string and a straw and seeing how far it would rocket along the string. The Beavers didn't seem to get much of a look in at that experiment, the leaders were trying to outdo each other!!!

Vinegar Volcano proved to be a popular experiment, where bicarbonate of soda is added to a bottle filled with vinegar and red food colouring - the effect was an spectular fizzing volcano.

Using the same ingredients, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, Beavers also found that they could inflate a balloon without touching it.

Beavers also enjoyed the bottle diver experiment, where they discovered density and diving by making a foil diver move up and down in a large bottle of water. They found that they could make the diver move fast and slow and up and down, all by squezing the bottle.

Beavers were amazed by optical illusions , including the duck/rabbit and the elephant with how many legs?!!!

We also experimented by trying to mix various liquids together, including where oil was mixed with water and salt , which resulted in a funny bubble effect.
