Centenary Fun Day

On Saturday 26th May 2007, Mercer Beavers joined lots of other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts at Bowley Scout Camp celebrate 100 years of Scouting.

We lined up with other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in the Hyndburn District to parade our flag to the opening ceremony.

These Beavers were beaming after trying out the siren on the police car they are sitting in.

Beavers took part in lots of activities including inflatable bouncy slide, canoeing, circus skills and crafts.
Beavers enjoyed a party tea, but one was so hungry he tried to eat his hat.

Still eating!

Lots of fun was had asking other people to sign the special white neckers

Making centenary placemats in the art and craft tent.

Beavers and hammers were a worrying combination, but luckily there were no accidents!

Pond Dipping

Mercer Beavers enjoyed dipping their nets in the pond at Bowley Scout Camp. They found lots of different creatures , including tadpoles at different stages of development , some almost about to become frogs.

Some Beavers were amazed to catch newts and were even more amazed that Black Beaver did not want to hold one!
